M.D./M.P.H.

The School of Medicine offers a five-year M.D./M.P.H. dual degree program beginning in Academic Year 2022-23. Deferring the first year of medical school to complete the majority of the M.P.H. coursework will allow you to complete the remaining requirements during your medical school education.

The goals of the five-year M.D./M.P.H. program are:

  • Recruit diverse and highly motivated applicants.
  • Graduate health care leaders with integrated public health training who will advance the public and social mission of Wayne State University.
  • Lead School of Michigan medical schools by offering an innovative, integrated public health curriculum.

While our history and graduates have proved our strength and impact in urban clinical excellence in numerous ways, the transformation of our M.D./M.P.H. dual degree program will provide the best medical student experience possible a learning environment informed by research, analysis and review that will provide a unique set of tools, skills, knowledge and experiences to position them as leaders in public health.
