Steps to complete admissions
Secondary application, letters of recommendation and applicant portal
Eligible applicants will be invited to complete a secondary application, view and complete technical standards, and submit a non-refundable $100 application fee once a completed AMCAS application is verified. (Learn more about our Secondary Application Fee Waiver Policy.)
To do so, you'll log into our AMP applicant portal. You will receive instructions on how to activate and access the portal in the email inviting you to complete our secondary application.
- Your username will be your 8-digit AAMC ID number.
- You may submit up to five updates that will be reviewed along with your application in the "Other Documents" section of your applicant portal.
- Applicants may check the status of their application at any time by logging into the portal. Please check your email and portal regularly during the application process.
We recommend you submit your secondary application as soon as possible after receiving it.
Letters of recommendation
As you submit your secondary, don’t forget to ensure you've also submitted letters of recommendation through the AMCAS letter service. View our Letters of Recommendation Policy for details on the types of letters required and accepted sources.
- Letters will be kept on file while your application is reviewed.
- If your advising office uses VirtualEvals, AMCAS will download the letters automatically once posted.
