Prospective students and applicants timeline

May

  • Beginning of May: AMCAS application can be electronically accessed by prospective applicants.
  • End of May/Early June: AMCAS application can be submitted by applicants to AMCAS.

June

  • June 27: MCAT final test date for Early Decision Program.
  • End of June: Verified AMCAS applications are released to the WSU SOM.

July

  • July 8: Verified AMCAS applicants will begin to receive access to the WSU SOM secondary application via AMP applicant portal.
  • The Admissions Committee begins to review completed AMCAS applications.

August

  • Interviews for applicants begin and go through February.
  • Aug. 1: Early Decision Program AMCAS application deadline.
  • Aug. 8: Early Decision Program secondary materials deadline.
  • August/September: Early Decision Program interviews.

September

October

  • No later than Oct. 1: Early Decision Program decision notifications.
  • Oct. 15: WSU SOM begins to make offers to regular admit students through start of classes.

November

  • Nov. 1: OMFS, M.D./Ph.D., B.A./M.D. (MedDirect and Kuwait Program) application deadlines.

December

  • Early December: Early Assurance Program online application (GVSU, SVSU and Calvin College applicants) goes live for following admissions cycle.
  • Dec. 31: WSU SOM M.D. program deadline for submission of the AMCAS application.

January

  • MCAT test dates open from January through mid-September.

February

  • Early February: Early Assurance Program online application (GVSU, SVSU and Calvin College applicants) for following admissions cycle closes.
  • Feb. 8: WSU SOM secondary application deadline.

 

Admitted students timeline

  • Oct. 1: EDP (Early Decision Program) decisions released.
  • Oct. 15: M.D. program offers of admission begin.
  • Dec. 1: Watch for information about the launch of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Complete the FAFSA as soon as possible.
  • Feb. 19: “Plan to Enroll” option opens in AMCAS.
  • April 15: AMCAS protocols recommend narrowing your acceptance offers to three schools.
  • April 30: “Commit to Enroll” becomes available in AMCAS. “Plan to Enroll” is still available for accepted students.
  • May 1 – June 8: “Commit to Enroll” on AMCAS is strongly recommended for incoming students.
  • June 9: Wayne State University School of Medicine requires all incoming students to select “Commit to Enroll.” 
  • Early July: Orientation and classes begin for incoming medical students.
