Academic regalia

Ordering instructions

All graduates must wear academic regalia for the ceremony.  Scholastic Grads is the vendor that will supply caps and gowns.

  • Select “Wayne State Medical School
  • Select :  "Cap and Gown Ordering
  • Select “Wayne State Gown/Hood/8 sided tam/Tassel Rental
• The Soft Cap/Hood/Gown rental cost is $98.00, if paying by credit/debit card online.  The cost is $88.00 if paying with cash in person on February 18th in the Margherio Conf. Center from 9:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m..
• For your sizing information, enter Height (Feet, Inches, ex: 5’9”) and Weight (note lbs or kgs)
• Enter your Name, Email, Phone Number (with area code) and Address (Note:  All orders will be shipped to the SoM)
• Note:  You will receive a complimentary Medical Green tassel with your cap and gown order.  Extra Green Tassels are $5.00.  Gold Tassels are $5.00 (after the complimentary tassel).
• Click “Add to Cart”  (Note:  The page will not advance)
• Look to the left side of the screen.  You will see the cart.  Click on the cart to pull it up.
• If your information is correct, click “ Checkout; If not, click on the entry and re-do.
• Class Rings and Mugs/Steins are also available for purchase on the website.
• Graduation Announcements are ordered through Balfour, a third-party website  Please use the link provided to purchase.
• You are now on the checkout screen.  You can use Secure Checkout for credit cards or Google Pay for your purchase.
• Regalia ordered between March 1st and March 15th will incur a late fee. The cost will increase to $100.
• After March 15th, students must call 1-888-678-4723 for gown availability and cost.
• Gowns need to be canceled by March 31st to avoid a 30% restocking fee.
• All orders placed online, must be paid in full.

Pick-up instructions

The regalia pick-up schedule is as follows:

Date:     Thursday, May 1st and Friday, May 2nd
Time:     9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Place:    South end of the cafeteria

If you cannot come in personally, someone else can pick up your gown for you; however, they will have to sign for it (same goes for tickets). 

Honor cords, tickets and class composites will be distributed during pick-up. Any questions or concerns regarding your tam and gown should be directed to the Student Affairs Office, 313-577-1463.

Return instructions

Please take your photos in advance of the ceremony.  Following the ceremony the graduates will be lead directly to the backstage area for disrobing and will not be allowed to interact with guests.
