Dr. Anthony Gaynier's commitment to Wayne State University began in 2017 when he joined the School of Medicine to serve as the Clerkship Coordinator and the Coordinator of the Integrated Curriculum. In 2023, he joined the Office of Learning and Teaching to serve as the Clinical Faculty Learning Skills Specialist. In this role, Dr. Gaynier will develop, deliver, and coordinate professional learning opportunities for Clinical Teaching Faculty that are designed to foster improved delivery of a guaranteed and viable medical education curriculum. In addition to his career at Wayne State University, he spends time volunteering coaching college football.

In 2021, Dr. Gaynier was honored with the Transition to Residency Educators “Coordinator of the Year” award.

Dr. Anthony Gaynier is a graduate of Wayne State University earning a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. His dissertation topic focused on the perceived value of the transition to residency courses. He is also an alumnus of Concordia University where he earned a master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education and a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Exercise Science. Dr. Gaynier's research interests center on the transition to residency courses, coaching in academic medicine, and faculty enrichment.
