Clinicians Investiture

The Clinicians Investiture is the capstone of the Preparation for Clerkships course and a key mile marker on our Highways to Excellence M.D. curriculum. The event is rooted in the Principles of Professional Identity and held in the Spring, just before the beginning of the third year of medical school. It denotes a significant transition for our medical students as they take on the professional responsibilities of comprehensive patient care and collegiate clinical work during a pivotal segment of their medical education journey. Embarking on core clinical rotations, students will learn alongside attending and resident physicians and other members of the healthcare team to gain experience in primary care and medical specialties.

The program is anchored in the professional attributes we aim to develop and that mark the essence of a Wayne Warrior M.D., the sixteen Cs. As such, this event is celebrated more informally within the School of Medicine community and our clinical partners. Basic science and clinical teaching faculty, staff, administration, and alumni are invited to participate, underscoring our joint educational commitment in preparing our trainees to provide compassionate, collaborative and scientifically excellent care to all patients. Our Physicians In Training will receive a commemorative stethoscope and recite the uniquely Wayne Pledge of Ethics and Professionalism before proceeding to onboard for the Clerkship Phase of the M.D. Curriculum.
