Awards and recognition

Cast Your Vote - February 1, 2024 - March 1, 2024

There are three awards that will be announced on Match Day.  Make your vote count!!!

The submission deadline is Friday, March 1 at 5 p.m.

1. The Voluntary Faculty Award: You may nominate up to three (3) clinical faculty not on WSU payroll, in recognition and appreciation of their dedication to excellence in the instruction of clinical medicine.

2. The Class Marshal: The Class Marshal is the faculty member who traditionally leads the class procession into the auditorium at graduation and the recession at the end of the ceremony.  You may nominate a faculty member at the School of Medicine who students feel has contributed significantly to their education.

3. The Penfil Award: Dr. Richard Penfil, Class of 1964, has revived the long-dormant Penfil Award account which will permit the presentation of the award to a 2024 graduate of the School of Medicine. The Penfil Award recognizes the senior who, in the opinion of his/her classmates, has developed an understanding of the Art of Medicine as displayed by his/her care and understanding of his/her patients during the clinical years of medical school.
