HSRB construction parking FAQs

When is Lot 75 closing?

Lot 75 is closing as of Monday, August 18, 2025.

Why is Lot 75 closing?

Lot 75 is closing to accommodate construction of WSU’s new Health Sciences Research Building (HSRB).

Where should I park once Lot 75 closes?

Everyone currently assigned to Lot 75 will be given access to Parking Structure 4, located at the northeast corner of Canfield and St. Antoine just east of Lot 75. Access will be added to your existing RFID hangtag and/or OneCard.

Is Parking Structure 4 large enough to accommodate all the students and employees who will be parking there?

Yes. Parking Structure 4 has the capacity to hold roughly 1,200 vehicles (double the size of Lot 75) and offers entry/exit gates on both Canfield and St. Antoine.

Will Parking Structure 4 have 24/7 access?

Yes. Parking Structure 4 will be upgraded to 24/7 status on August 18. Overnight parking does require your valid RFID hangtag to be displayed. Daily parkers who need to stay overnight should notify the parking command center at 313-577-1979. Along with 24/7 access, LED lighting in the structure will remain on 24/7.

How will traffic be impacted?

Vehicles can access Parking Structure 4 from both Canfield and St. Antoine. To help improve traffic flow during peak times, there is a reversing lane at the Canfield entry/exit whereas the gate can be switched to either an entrance or an exit during peak times. The garage has a double helix design so traffic can flow from both entries and exits without impacting the other entry/exit’s traffic. For added safety and security, please note the St. Antoine gate will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Monday through Friday and all-day Saturday and Sunday. During these times, all traffic should use the Canfield gates.

Will my parking costs increase?

No. All student, employee and daily parking rates will remain the same at this time.

Can I pay to park via WSU OneCard and/or credit card?

Yes. Parking Structure 4 will also be upgraded to accommodate daily parkers. Daily parking will be available via OneCard Debit at the current rate of $4.25 per entry for students and $7.75 per entry for faculty and staff.

Will visitors be allowed to park in Parking Structure 4?

Yes. Visitors may park via credit card (Visa, Mastercard and Discover only). The current daily credit card rate is $9.00 per entry. Departments who have purchased guest One-Time Use Parking Cards for use in Lot 75 will also be able to use those parking cards for guests in Parking Structure 4.

How will you accommodate larger/oversized vehicles? What is the parking garage clearance height?

Parking Structure 4 has a clearance of 7’0. Larger or oversized vehicles can be parked at either Lot 57 (237 E. Hancock Street) or Lot 72 (4510 Cass Avenue).

Will any streets or sidewalks be impacted by the construction?

Yes, the north side of Canfield’s sidewalk will be closed from the driveway of Parking Structure 4 to the loading dock area of the Elliman Building for the duration of the project. A protected pedestrian pathway will be constructed from the existing Scott Hall crosswalk to the Canfield entrance of Parking Structure 4.

Does Parking Structure 4 offer electric vehicle charging? How many?

Yes, the parking structure has electric vehicle charging. There are currently six EV chargers located inside Parking Structure 4. More can be added if there is sufficient demand.

Does Parking Structure 4 offer handicapped parking spaces? How many?

Parking Structure 4 offers 36 handicapped parking spaces (more than the amount required by the ADA) just outside of the elevator lobby on the south side of the structure on multiple levels.

Are there blue-light emergency phones in Parking Structure 4?

Yes. There are blue lights on each floor by the stairwells.

Who should I contact if I run into any issues or have additional questions?

If you encounter any problems, please use the intercom button in the lane or call 313-577-1979 for the 24/7 WSU Parking Command Center. You can also email any questions or comments to parking@wayne.edu.
