Mary Lu Angelilli, M.D., is the interim chair of the Wayne State University Department of Pediatrics.

A 1979 graduate of the WSU School of Medicine, Dr. Angelilli completed an internship and residency in Pediatrics with Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 1982. She joined the WSU faculty in 1991, and has served as chief of staff at Children’s Hospital of Michigan since 2005.

Dr. Angelilli is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children and the Ray E. Helfer Society (Child Abuse Academic Society).
She currently serves on the DMC’s Joint Conference Committee overseeing the credentialing of physicians, the Peer Review Committee, the Clinical Excellence Committee, and the Medical Executive Committee of the Detroit Medical Center. She also is an ex-officio member of the Children’s Hospital Board of Trustees.

Dr. Angelilli has also has served on the WSU School of Medicine and Departmental Promotion and Tenure Committees, the School of Medicine Undergraduate Promotions Committee, the Executive Committee of the Faculty Senate, the Student Education Committee and the WSU Human Investigation Committee Pediatric Section. She is a past division chief of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, and she was an associate director of Undergraduate Education. Dr. Angelilli also ran the inpatient child protection team service for seven years while also seeing outpatients.

Recognized as a “Top Doc” by Hour Magazine Detroit for multiple years, she also received the Inspiration and Excellence Friend of Nursing Award (2005) and the Sanford N. Cohen Award for outstanding service during pediatric residency (1982).
