Comprehensive resources for academic and personal success

Feel supported as a Warrior M.D.

At Wayne State University School of Medicine, we believe in proactively supporting our students so that they can maintain focus on what's most important. That's why we recently launched the Wayne Trained Program, a new coaching-based medical education initiative.

Wayne Trained is based on the Master Adaptive Learner framework, designed by the American Medical Association, to assist physicians in becoming master adaptive learners—expert, self-directed, self-regulated and lifelong workplace learners through coaching. This novel program adds to the diverse student support already offered through our office of Student Affairs. With the addition of our Wayne Trained Program, students now receive support through:

  • Coaching
  • Academic advising
  • Career advising
  • Mentoring
  • Health and wellness
  • Counseling

Systematic coordination of the key stakeholders will ensure that all students have baseline support in place in these seven dimensions, marking their common experience as developing Wayne Warrior M.D. and lifelong skills of a Master Adaptive Learner.
