Wayne State University Physician Group

Wayne State University Physician Group is a non-profit, multi-specialty academic group practice with nearly 400 dedicated physicians and advanced practice providers in 50 medical specialties offering a full spectrum of care, from birth to end-of-life, for individuals and families throughout southeastern Michigan. WSUPG physicians and providers specialize in the care of patients with the most complex chronic health conditions, especially those from vulnerable populations, who face disparities related to a lack of access to integrated health resources and greater exposure to risk due to their financial circumstances, place of residence, age and other issues.

WSUPG patients receive care from primary and specialty-care physicians engaged in leading-edge biomedical research, providing patients access to the latest and most advanced medical treatments and prevention backed by academic medical research. WSUPG physicians are faculty at the Wayne State University School of Medicine, with a mission-based commitment to educate more than 1,200 medical students and 900 residents each year. This stewardship enables WSUPG physicians to share their vast medical knowledge and expertise with resident physicians and medical students, inspiring them to remain at the forefront of their medical specialty.

WSUPG has created an innovative platform for integrated physical and behavioral health, leveraging clinical expertise, academic excellence and community partnerships to enhance population health accountability. The power of this synergistic approach was demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic when WSUPG partnered with Wayne State University and ACCESS to test thousands of metropolitan Detroit's most vulnerable residents, health care workers, corrections officers and first responders through community-based testing and screening. This partnership evolved into the first mobile "drive-to" COVID-19 testing service across the state of Michigan in partnership with Ford Motor Co.
