Our Mission

The Wilderness Medicine Student Interest Group was
established with support from the Wilderness Medical Society
to promote education in and exposure to wilderness medicine.
The WMSIG provides an opportunity for members to gain an
appreciation for these types of issues through workshops,
activities, and outings. The WMSIG further promotes
wilderness safety and environmental awareness.

Club Profile

WMSIG was established in 1999 by Anthony Lagina, Geoff Crockett,

Natasha Robinette, Cori Negri and faculty advisor Dr. Robert Welch.

A culmination of interests in mountaineering, climbing, backpacking,

and a great enthusiasm for the outdoors, combined with a love of medicine

led us to form the group.  In addition to our mission, we hope to provide

an opportunity for members to learn both wilderness and medical techniques

in a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.
