As part of the Wayne State Univeristy School of Medicine, education is of paramount importance to our Department. Our educational programs are designed for medical students, residents, fellows, graduate students, post-doctoral scientists, and established physicians both within the medical school environment and the local and international community.
The Wayne State University Urology Residency Program is part of the Wayne State University Department of Urology. The residency currently consists of five years of training with one year of general surgery and four years of clinical urology. We accept two candidates per year.
The primary goal of our residency is to provide a superb clinical and surgical experience for our residents in a highly academic setting. Residents should not only gain proficiency in all aspects of urologic care leading to board certification but also should acquire the academic skills to pursue fellowship or subspecialty training.
The full time academic faculty consists of 8 urologists. The entire faculty is dedicated to resident education, patient care and research. See list of faculty.
All of the above hospitals are located within a 3 block radius of the Detroit Medical Center.
