About the LGBT Community
National Coming Out Day - More Than a Day to Wear Red!
National Coming Out Day was first established in 1988 to commemorate the Second National March on Washington for Gay and Lesbian Rights. National Coming Out Day is organized by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and is observed every year on October 11. The day is meant to raise awareness on gay and lesbian issues and all LGBT friendly individuals are asked to wear red to show their support and cooperation for a more equitable society!
National Coming Out Day on October 11:

June is National Gay Pride Month!
In 2000, Bill Clinton established June as "Gay and Lesbian Pride Month" to remember the 1969 Stonewall Inn riots in Manhattan - which many consider to be the beginning of the gay and lesbian rights movement in the United States. June is now a month to celebrate gay and lesbian contributions as well as to promote wider acceptance of sexual diversity and tolerance.
