Immunology & MicrobiologyICollaborative research in BMB on several clinical projects These include using PCR and qPCR to characterize the vaginal microbiome and understand the progression from normal microbiota to those associated with bacterial vaginosis and other diseases. Also , using PCR to diagnose fungal infections directly from clinical samples, using qPCR to quantify and high resolution melt curve analysis to identify species. If there are students who would like to do biochemistry/molecular biology/cell biology research on brain tumors, they can join the lab for one-month research rotation stints. Also, if there are any hardy souls willing to do biophysics related research, they are welcome too! Usually we take one medical student at a time, as there are usually other students in the lab who need attention as well. If the prospective medical student can give me at least one-month’s advanced notice before the start date. A one-month project can be tailored for them in advance or partition a longer term one into smaller slots.
