Electronic Residency Application
Service (ERAS)
ERAS is the national electronic residency application system developed
by the Association of American Medical College (AAMC) in the 1990’s
to standardized the application process and format for applying for
residency programs. All senior medical students enrolled in U.S.
medical school, alumni of US medical school, Osteopathic medical school
students and graduates and the graduates of international medical
schools apply for post-graduate training through ERAS.
National Residency Matching Program
(NRMP)
A national program through which residency program directors and
residency program applicants rank their applicant and program preferences
and are “matched”.
Matriculation Student Questionnaire
(MSQ)
The Association of American Medical Colleges’ (AAMC) questionnaire
regarding pre-medical education, medical school application process
and career goals completed by all US medical students at the time
of matriculation in medical school.
Graduation Questionnaire (GQ)
All seniors enrolled in U.S. medical school are required to complete
the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Graduation Questionnaire
regarding medical school experiences and career goals. The questionnaire
is completed in the spring of the senior year.

development program was developed by the Association of American Medical
Colleges to assist medical students in determining their medical specialty

FREIDA online
The American Medical Association’s Fellowship and Residency Electronic
Interactive Database (FREIDA) lists information for all of the graduate
medical education programs accredited by the Accreditation Council
on Medical Education. The information provided is updated as changes
occur.
Pathways to Medicine
A five-step decision making process designed to facilitate informed
career decisions.
CareerMD
careerMD is a residency planning website designed to provide students
with resources needed to make informed career decisions about residency
programs.
Graduate Medical Education Directory (The Green Book)
The Green Book is the printed directory of all accredited post-graduate
medical education training programs in the United States. The printed
directory included the specialty accreditation requirements as well
as state medical licensure requirements. |
