Year I and II students in the Basic Sciences should use the following checklist to monitor success:
Know your strengths and weakness:
- Play to your strengths
- Recognize that you have to devlop some new skills
Know how to ask for help:
- Ask for help counselors in Student Affairs
- Meet with faculty/course directors regularly
- Use tutoring (it's FREE!)
- Use resources-Bb, WebPath, questions
- Read before lectures
- Study in groups
- Attend review sessions regularly
- Review immediately after lectures
- Frequently review old material
Good time management skills:
- Deliberately plan for work, play, and other
- Follow through with those plans
- Study every day
- Be realistic
