Year I and II students in the Basic Sciences should use the following checklist to monitor success:

Know your strengths and weakness:

  • Play to your strengths
  • Recognize that you have to devlop some new skills

Know how to ask for help:

  • Ask for help counselors in Student Affairs
  • Meet with faculty/course directors regularly
  • Use tutoring (it's FREE!)
  • Use resources-Bb, WebPath, questions
  • Read before lectures
  • Study in groups
  • Attend review sessions regularly
  • Review immediately after lectures
  • Frequently review old material

Good time management skills:

  • Deliberately plan for work, play, and other
  • Follow through with those plans
  • Study every day
  • Be realistic
