As an expert in domestic violence, Dr. Henry has done much to improve the response of physicians and health care workers to this problem and, in particular, to improve residency education on domestic violence issues. She has lectured and written on heart disease in women, domestic violence, preventive care, managed care in graduate medical education, and numerous other medical topics. Dr. Henry has served as the Detroit chapter president of Physicians for Social Responsibility and has been on the board of governors for the WSU Medical Alumni Association. She earned her medical degree from WSU in 1985, and completed her postgraduate training in primary care internal medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. As the new president of AMWA, Dr. Henry plans to focus on strengthening the AMWA Career Development Institute, building relationships between local branches and the national organization, and streamlining the organization’s governance. "We need to provide value to our members while at the same time continuing our advocacy for women’s health," said Dr. Henry. "We will continue to actively support efforts to end the national disgrace of 44 million uninsured Americans."
