Receptions and Events

500 Club Reception

The Medical Alumni Association and Dean Robert Sokol, MD, sponsored the annual 500 Club reception in late February. This year, the event was held at the Automobile Hall of Fame in Dearborn, Michigan. Guests were able to explore the museum, which offered a history of the automobile. Dr. Sokol thanked guests for supporting the School of Medicine.

This event is in recognition of those individuals who have made a gift of $500 or more to the School of Medicine in the previous year. Again, we thank our alumni donors and other supporters.

Alumni-Student Career Day

The Medical Alumni Association hosted its first Alumni-Student Career Day on Tuesday, March 23rd. More than 100 students and 20 alumni participated in the sessions and the planning of the event.

Jill Dorsey and Brandon Dalziel, both Year II students, were instrumental in the creation and planning of this event for our Year I and II students. When they brought the proposal to the Medical Alumni Association Board of Governors, the members were eager to provide helpful programming to the students.

During the evening, students rotated through three informal sessions, at which they could discuss information on different specialties and residency programs, as well as professional and personal life with alumni. A casual reception followed, allowing alumni and students to mingle and talk on a one-to-one basis. Given the positive responses from many students and alumni to this first-time event, the Medical Alumni Association will plan to host this event again next year.

Many thanks to the following alumni who participated in this year's event: Drs. John Bauer, Jason Bodzin, Steven Dean, David Decker, Bruce Deschere, Thomas Ditkoff, Anne Guyot, Ronald Kerwin, Jane Krasnick, Carl Lauter, Aaron Lupovitch, Ray Margherio, Bill O'Neill, Sheila Ray, Daniel Ryan, Kenneth Shaheen, Carolyn Sprague, Burt Weyhing, Andrew Wilson, and Sheryl Wissman.
