Adult Psych Treatment - Resident Clinic The APT (Adult Psychiatry Teaching Clinic) Program is a specialty program staffed by residents and P.A. students, providing them with a comprehensive teaching opportunity. The program works with consumers who exhibit a variety of severe and persistent mental illnesses. Dr. Richard Balon and Javeed Syed, MSW provide services for this program. The University Psychiatric Center serves as the site for resident core didactic seminars, one of two training sites for the Outpatient Psychiatry year, and as one of the locations for the Community Psychiatry rotation. UPC-Jefferson offers a wide range of diagnostic and treatment services for adults from 18- 65 and serves as a training site for psychiatric residents; psychology interns; and medical, physician assistant, and social work students. Outpatient teaching activities include supervised intake and diagnostic conferences, medication clinic, a journal club, psychopharmacology rounds, practice sessions for conducting focused interviews. Supervising faculty include one full-time psychiatrist who also directs the teaching clinic, three parttime psychiatrists, and two part-time PhD psychologists; each has a designated area of expertise and supervises treatment cases in the modalities applicable to his/her expertise: psychopharmacology and combined treatment, brief therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and supportive psychotherapy. |
