The mission of the Developmental Neurosciences CRD is to integrate research, service, and training programs regarding three areas: 1) Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder; 2) Growth and Development; and 3) Eating Disorders. In the areas of ADHD, participating faculty members have opened an ADHD Lifespan Center for coordinating health care for individuals of any age with ADHD; have begun research programs on treating ADHD substance abusers, family interaction in families with more than one ADHD member, personality in ADHD adults, treatment of adolescents with ADHD through psychosocial interventions, to name a few; and have developed ADHD lifespan training modules for medical students and residents. In the Growth and Development area, the focus has been on chronic illness. Specific research and service programs include a medication clinic, the CMS program, a number of studies on growth hormone deficient children's cognitive and emotional functioning, etc. The Eating Disorders group has been studying family versus individual therapy for anorexia nervosa as well as treating eating disorders in children and adolescents.
