Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Residency Program Information

Director of Residency Training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
Beth Ann Brooks, MD, Professor of Psychiatry

Dr. Brooks has been invested in psychiatric education for more than 25 years. She has been a member of the Residency Review Committee for Psychiatry and served as Chair of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Committee on Certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ABPN); currently she is a director of the ABPN. Locally, Dr. Brooks also serves as the Department’s Associate Chair for Education and as Director of Residency Training in General Psychiatry.

Stipends (2007-2008)
PG-4  $47,087 PG-5 $48,499 PG-6 $49,954
Payroll is biweekly.

Benefits
Major medical, health, and dental insurance are provided to the resident (and spouse or child, as appropriate). Short and long-term disability and life insurance also are provided.

Insurance
Professional liability coverage is provided to the resident while participating in training activities at the Detroit Medical Center and other approved institutions. This coverage does not extend to outside moonlighting positions.

Vacation/Leave
Residents are eligible for three weeks of vacation and two weeks of administrative leave per contract year. Residents receive full payment of stipend for illness up to 90 calendar days; they are allowed five sick days per year without adding training time.

Outpatient & Consultation to an In-Home Treatment Team at UPC-Livonia in Livonia, MI (includes supervision for Community Psychiatry at North Central Health Center in Detroit and Day Care Consultation at Schoolcraft College Children's Center in Livonia)
