WSU to host ‘mini medical school’
Wayne State University’s School of Medicine is
opening its doors to the public to learn about the body an how to take care of
it as part of its Mini Medical School. The six-week, free course sponsored by
Pfizer will allow members of the community to learn about genes, hypertension,
aging, alternative medicine, diabetes and fat. Classes start April 26 and
follow every Thursday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. through May 31. For more

WSU to host symposium on cell
signaling
The second-annual Mary Webber Parker Distinguished Lecture
Symposium will be on April 19 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at Wayne State
University’s School of Medicine. This year’s topic is cell signaling and
will feature George Vande Woude, PhD, director of Grand Rapids’s Van
Andel Research Institute, and Domenico Accili, MD, of Columbia
University. The lecture will honor George Grunberger, MD, for his dedicated
service as director of the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics. The
lecture will be in Room 2268, Scott Hall, 540 E. Canfield. For more information,
