State University School of Medicine hosts
Brain Awareness Week
Representatives from WSU School of Medicine will teach
metro Detroit children about the human brain during Brain Awareness Week, which
is March 12 through March 17. Faculty members and students will bring human
brains into area classrooms to discuss the functions of the brain and the damage
that can be caused by drugs and disease. The week will culminate with a Brain
Awareness Day program from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, March 17, in the Browsing
Section of the main branch of the Detroit Public Library, 5201 Woodward Ave.
Note to medicine/health/education reporters: Keep an eye
out for a future release detailing events planned for Brain Awareness Week and
participating local schools. This event is usually a lot of fun to cover and
very photogenic.
