New legislation requires coverage for diabetic supplies, education
The Michigan legislature recently approved legislation
requiring health insurance coverage of diabetic equipment and education. These
measures could dramatically improve the lives of diabetics throughout the state.
George Grunberger, MD, a professor at Wayne State University School of
Medicine’s Morris Hood Diabetes Center, can answer questions about the
far-reaching impact of this legislation.
Cold weather puts asthmatics at risk
Below zero wind chills can be a nuisance to anyone, but for asthmatics, cold
weather can be a serious problem. Getting hit in the face with a cold gust of
air can literally take breath away. To learn more about how people with asthma
can protect themselves and lower the risk of attacks, Willane Krell, MD, WSU
associate professor of internal medicine, can answer questions.
Sporadic
exercise may increase cardiac risks
A WSU professor’s research has shown that it might be worth the money
to hire someone to shovel the walk if you don’t exercise regularly. Barry
Franklin, PhD, WSU professor of physiology, found that people who exercise
sporadically have a small increase in risk for exercise-related fatal heart
attacks. For more information, call us.
