WSU
doctors join to form Wayne State University Physician Group
Group
reschedules event for Oct. 9 at WSU’s Scott Hall
Faculty
members of the Wayne State University School of Medicine will join together
Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the formation of the area’s
largest practice plan, the Wayne State University Physician Group.
As
academic physicians, the group’s 750 members already provide world-class
medical care while also ensuring continuing improvements in health care by
conducting groundbreaking research and teaching the next generation of
first-rate doctors.
“Wayne
State University Physician Group is a dominant force in the metropolitan Detroit
medical field,” said Stephen DeSilva, president and CEO of the Wayne State
University Physician Group. “We are looking forward to improving care by
eliminating some of the hassles our patients face as a result of disparate
processes and systems our physicians have been using.”
Wayne
State University physicians formerly were represented by 19 separate practice
plans. By bringing all of the university’s physicians together into one plan,
the group hopes to improve patient care by streamlining contract processes with
health insurers and simplifying billing systems through a new management
services organization.
The
group also plans to improve referral systems, both for physicians within the
organization and for those outside of it.
The
Wayne State University Physician Group is a non-profit corporation that consists
of 750 doctors who are faculty members at Wayne State University School of
Medicine, a leader in women and children’s health, cancer and the
neurosciences.
Please
join the Wayne State University Physician Group at its celebration at 10:30
a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, in Room 1358, Scott Hall, 540 E. Canfield, to learn more
about the group and its plans.
