MESSAGE FROM GEORGE E. DAMBACH, Ph.D., VICE PRESIDENT FOR RESEARCH

To support and encourage research endeavors at the university, the Office of the Vice President for Research offers various internal research funding opportunities in which university faculty are eligible to compete. The Graduate School, the Office of the Provost, and the Humanities Center also offer competitive research support opportunities for faculty.

To allow faculty easy access to information about the opportunities available through these four units, the Office of the Vice President for Research has compiled a comprehensive Internal Research Support Booklet, which is available on the Division of Research website. This booklet provides information on this year's competitions for faculty and students, guidelines on the university's procedures for conducting research, information on research support services, and a list of internal websites helpful for WSU researchers. In addition, this site provides downloadable forms for those competitions that require applications.

To access the Internal Research Support Booklet on the Division of Research website, click on "Internal Funding Opportunities" under the "Research Support" button at http://www.research.wayne.edu/.

To alert you to upcoming deadlines, I've included below the list of competitions with fixed deadlines for the 2002-2003 academic year. Detailed information on these competitions can be found in the Internal Research Support Booklet on the Division of Research website. To quickly go to the page in the booklet containing information on the award of interest, simply click on the award name in the booklet's Table of Contents.

It is my hope that you will take advantage of these available programs. I wish you success in your research pursuits this academic year.
