Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to attach a copy of Governor Jennifer Granholm's press release issued this afternoon announcing the agreement reached very early this morning to renew the Wayne State University/University Physician Group-Detroit Medical Center contracts that support our partnership for education, research, and companion clinical programs.

As I advised the School's clinical department chairs earlier today, these agreements will maintain and build all 68 of our residency and fellowship programs, preserve the healthcare safety net for Detroit's most vulnerable populations, and continue the longstanding partnership between WSU and the DMC that has enabled our many interdisciplinary research programs that are recognized as national models for innovation.

I personally thank each of you for the patience and strength you have shown over the past months. I look forward to providing you with more detail at a forum next week.
