Message from the Dean Regarding WSU/DMC Partnership
Key messages about the status of our partnership with the Detroit Medical Center:
- The School of Medicine fully supports its clinical partner, the Detroit Medical Center, in providing quality health care to residents of our surrounding community. The School is actively working to effect public policy that would address the economic disparities in the present health care delivery system.
- The School of Medicine remains committed to its missions of medical education, research and patient care and will continue its role as the source for quality medical education, research and patient care to the greater community.
- Our ability to provide quality education to our students, to conduct leading-edge medical research and to provide quality medical care by our faculty will continue through other partnerships if we are unable to use any or all of the DMC facilities.
- The School of Medicine and its faculty practice group are actively exploring alternative partnerships and business opportunities to ensure the continuation of its missions. The School is poised to seek additional clinical partners to sustain, and in the long run to grow, our academic centers of excellence.
