WSU School of Medicine seminar to focus on genetics, health among
women
Discussion is part of Women’s Health Seminar at Temple
Beth-El
Wayne State University School of Medicine will present
“Heritage as a Biomarker: Genetics and Health” on Tuesday, Feb. 26, as part of
its ongoing Women’s Health Seminars at Temple Beth-El in Bloomfield Hills.
Dr.
Michael Tainsky, professor of oncology and director of the WSU School of
Medicine molecular biology and genetics program at the Barbara Ann Karmanos
Cancer Institute, will discuss how genetics plays a role in disease. He will
address how genetics influence breast and ovarian cancer risk among women of
Ashkenazi Jewish heritage as well as new screening methods being developed for
ovarian cancer.
The
seminar, which is free and open to the public, will be at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Feb.
26, in Temple Beth-El, at Telegraph and 14 Mile roads. To RSVP for the event,
