PEDIATRIC NEUROSURGERY

The pediatric neurosurgeons of the Neurological Surgery Department are based in one of the nation's largest pediatric neurosurgical centers, Children's Hospital of Michigan, and perform more than three thousand neurosurgical procedures every year.

Using a multi-disciplinary team approach, our neurosurgeons evaluate and treat children with a variety of neurosurgical problems, including tumors of the brain and spinal cord, spina bifida, hydrocephalus, craniofacial disorders, trauma, brachial plexus and vascular abnormalities. Wayne State University pediatric neurosurgeons are noted for their expertise in craniofacial reconstruction and reconstruction of congenital malformations of the spine. The Children's Hospital has developed a major center for surgical treatment of epilepsy. We also developed applications for neuroendoscopy and minimally invasive surgery. Our pediatric neurosurgeons are determined to provide their patients with optimal care, expertise and compassion, as if they were their very own children.
