FELLOWSHIPS

The WSU Department of Neurological Surgery offers two unaccredited fellowships, one in General Neurosurgery and one in Spine Neurosurgery. The general neurosurgery fellowship functions much like a pre-residency fellowship and is based at Harper University Hospital under the direction of Dr. Murali Guthikonda. We have two positions each year in this fellowship. Interested applicants can contact Dr. Guthikonda at mguthikonda@med.wayne.edu. The spine fellowship is directed by Dr. Setti Rengachary, and offers training at both Harper University Hospital and Detroit Receiving Hospital. We offer one position as a spine fellow and interested applicants should contact Dr. Rengachary at srengachary@med.wayne.edu. The department also offers an unaccredited general neurosurgery fellowship at Sinai Grace Hospital, a hospital that is affiliated with the Detroit Medical Center, but not part of the neurosurgery residency program. There are two positions available at Sinai Grace Hospital under the direction of Dr. Robert Johnson. Interested applicants should contact Dr. Johnson at robjohnson@med.wayne.edu. Participation as a fellow in any DMC/WSU unaccredited training program does not guarantee a position in the residency program. Descriptions of each fellowship follow.
