Associate Professor, Director of Cerebrovascular Disease Research Program, Department of Neurological Surgery, Wayne State University School of Medicine; John D. Dingell Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Department of Veterans Affairs

Dr. Ding joined our department as an Associate Professor and Director of Cerebrovascular Disease Research Program. Dr. Ding is nationally and internationally renowned as an expert in stroke therapy, traumatic brain injury and thermal injury research. His research interests include intra-arterial infusion, local brain hypothermia, the beneficial effects of physical exercise on ischemia/reperfusion injury after stroke, effects of closed brain injury on blood brain barrier and synaptogenesis.

Dr. Ding has mentored over 30 graduate students in the lab. He has over 60 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals and several book chapters. Dr. Ding is a member of the American Heart Association Stroke Council, the United States Society for Neuroscience, and the Plastic Surgery and Reconstructive Research Council.
