CRITICAL CARE

Neurosurgical Critical care is jointly managed by Dr. Wiliam Coplin and Dr. Ken Casey. There is a didactic curriculum, and a wealth of patient experience. The resident manages the entire spectrum of patient care, including fluid and electrolytes, nutrition, ventilator management, and wound care. We also place and manage all invasive monitoring, such as ventriculostomies, arterial lines, central lines, and EEG monitoring. We utilize LICOX, ,jugular bulb, and related intracranial monitoring. The resident is responsible for daily rounds, and integrating the plan from the consultant services. All cranial and spine trauma and acute neurosurgical emergencies are admitted to this facility.
