Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Neurological testing is performed to evaluate patients with seizures or other spells that may involve change in the level of responsiveness. Common problems include blackout spells, coma, syncope, stroke, and headache, in addition to seizures.

Evoked Potential (EP's) including Visual Evoked Potentials (VEP); Auditory Evoked Potentials (AEP); and Upper/Lower Extremity Somatosensory Evoked Potentials (SSEP) are used to evaluate children with various neurological disorders, such as visual loss, optic neuritis, hearing loss, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord lesions.

Electromyography and Nerve Conduction Studies

Neurological testing is performed to further evaluate conditions involving the muscles, peripheral nerves, nerve roots or spinal cord. Common problems seen include brachial plexus injury, facial weakness, neuropathy, myopathy and muscular dystrophy. The testing is also used to evaluate limb pain, weakness and sensory changes. The findings are explained to the family and a report is sent to the referring physician.
