Department of Neurology

Clinical programs and research are central components of the Department of Neurology. Our faculty members participate in general neurology and specialty clinics at the University Health Center within the Detroit Medical Center. The faculty provides inpatient treatment at Harper Hospital, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Hutzel Hospital, Karmanos Cancer Institute, Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan and Children's Hospital of Michigan. Our neurology faculty participates in national multi-center therapeutic clinical trials, with state-of-the-art treatment protocols for multiple sclerosis, peripheral neuropathy, neuromuscular diseases, stroke, neurotrauma and epilepsy . Strong programs in myelin diseases, neuromuscular diseases and pediatric epilepsy are translational in nature, with components that are both patient-based and laboratory-based, applying research discoveries to treatment of neurologic disease.
