RESEARCH INTERESTS: My research interests focus on the pathogenesis of stroke and cerebral ischemia. My prior training examined the cellular mediators of cerebral vasospasm following subarachnoid hemorrhage.

I am extending my investigations into the cellular mechanisms that modulate neuronal survival following cerebral ischemia In my view, the nervous system represents the nucleus for our civilization. It is essential to dissect and understand the mechanism of neuronal injury in an effort to successfully "strike the stroke". The continual development of neuroscience will hopefully one day lay the foundation for the prevention and treatment of cerebral vascular disease.
