AMCAS
The American
Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) is a non-profit,
centralized application processing service for applicants to the first-year
entering classes at participating U.S. medical schools. The AMCAS
database that School of Medicine has is part of that centralized system
allowing the WSU SOM to review and process medical school applications. MSIS
Dev supports SOM modifications to the database and works with the vendor
for support issues. Questions about it's use or it's client interface
should be directed towards the AMCAS vendor.
Comprehensive
Organizational Metrics for Practice, Administration, Research and Education
(Compare) is a publication purchased from AAMC that contains statical
information comparing Wayne State School of Medicine and other medical
schools. MSIS Dev does not support this application.
FALS
The Faculty
Activity Logging System (FALS) has been developed in response to
the mandated reporting requirements brought about by the passage of
the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act of 1982 (TEFRA). In part,
these requirements state that in order to ensure the continuous reimbursement
of physician services to the University Hospitals (for activities such
as house officer teaching) a log must be completed by each clinical
faculty member practicing at the Detroit Medical Center, and Wayne State
University Hospitals.
