The MSIS Database Development group builds and maintains
databases for the School of Medicine departments. Interfaces to
the databases are based on Java technologies and Oracle and MS SQL database
systems. The DB Development group also maintains certain third
party databases for specific departments that use Oracle or MS SQL as
their database system. Typical support for such third-party systems
consists of working with the vendor for support issues.
Our Mission - To provide
the School of Medicine with information management solutions.
Primary Functions
- Analyze inter-departmental manual office procedures.
- Apply this analysis to design, create, and implement
a multi-division networked database.
- Design new office procedures to take advantage of the
database automation.
- Train staff as well as management on using these database
systems.
- Work with division leaders to virtually connect their
offices through the systems we develop.
Role
To provide analysis, definition and maintenance for the
major software based business and educational systems at the School
of Medicine. These systems are used to connect the major divisions in
the School of Medicine. With these connections we can coordinate many
departments into one seamless unit.
