Current activity: Currently I am an Associate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University with a joint appointment in Preventive Medicine/Community Health and the Survey and Evaluation Research Lab. I am the Director of the Ph.D. in Epidemiology Program - a new program that we started this year. I am active in the Ph.D. program and our Master of Public Health Program as well as involved in research. I am wrapping up a five year cohort study looking at the health of individuals who work on the Chesapeake Bay and I am involved in a CDC-funded Academic Center of Excellence to study and work to prevent youth violence.

Personal: I am married to Alan Turf and we have two children. Our children are grown and on their own now; one is a research associate at the University of Michigan and the other is an officer's candidate with the Navy, living in Oregon. We moved to Virginia 18 years ago when I took a job at VCU but I expect we'll move back to Michigan one of these days.
