Current activity: I left WSU as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and joined Providence Hospital in 2002 as their Director of Medical Research. I am currently busy with the administrative portion of my position but anticipate resuming my research shortly. I also chair our Institutional Review Board, animal committee and serve on our research committee. Externally, I serve on a Michigan animal research board and on a scientific advisory board for a biotechnology company. I still hold academic appointments with WSU at the Assistant Professor level in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Immunology and Microbiology and the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics. I am now consulting in the area of graduate medical education and in molecular genetics. Personal: I am married to Kathryn Svinarich, and we have 2 children, Diana (age 10) and Joshua (age 6). Kathryn and I still do mountaineering, technical climbing and scuba diving. I became a pilot several years ago and have recently completed my twin engine and float plane ratings. I still hunt avidly both in the United States and abroad. We are in the final stages of completing a vacation/retirement home in Northern Michigan where we spend many of our weekends. |
