Current activity: Leading genomic efforts in developing animal models for regenerative biology and tissue engineering. Chairing international efforts to sequence the pig genome and to promote the pig in biomedical research.

Personal: Happily married and proud parent of twin sons (graduates of U. Wisconsin and Lawrence University) who are pursuing law (Marquette) and pathogenesis (Northwestern) and daughter (pre-med Columbia University). Have become addicted to blue water sailing and travels around the world.
