Current activity: I earned my M.D. degree at the University
of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1983. I performed
my residency in the Department of Pathology at the University of Michigan
from 1983-1987, as well as a Postdoctoral Fellowship from 1985-1987.
Following that training, I joined the faculty of the Department of Pathology
at the University of Michigan as an Associate Professor in 1987 and
became a Staff Pathologist, Chief Grade, at the Veterans Affairs Health
Care System in Ann Arbor in the same year. In 1993, I also was appointed
an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology, School
of Public Health, at the University of Michigan. I was promoted to Associate
Professor of Pathology in 1994. In 2001 I was appointed Chief of Pathology
and Laboratory Medicine at the Ann Arbor VAHCS.
My research interests involve immune and
inflammatory responses and how cytokines and chemokines mediate those
responses. Along with my research activities, I have served on the editorial
boards for the American Journal of Pathology, American Journal of Respiratory
Cell and Molecular Biology, Journal of Immunology, and Inflammation
Research.
