| Joel has been working for Dr. James Patterson
(Pat) McAllister II in the Department of Neurological Surgery as a Summer
Undergraduate Research Fellow (SURF Student). His primary responsibility
in the lab has been to apply cognitive and behavioral motor functioning
tests to rat models of Hydrocephalus. As a secondary project, he has been
working with newer surgical practices, designed by researchers in Dr. McAllister’s
lab, of developing rodent models of communicating hydrocephalus.
Joel is a Lee Honors Student at Western Michigan University, working
on a BA in Biomedical Science and Psychology, with a minor in Chemistry.
He will finish his BA in April of 2007, and is currently working on his
applications to MD/PhD programs to eventually work with clinical Neurology
research. |
