The Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences at Wayne State University is dedicated to leading in research and advancing the family medicine and public health sciences. This commitment is exemplified in all aspects of our work, from the scholarly efforts that we require of our residents to the practice-based research studies conducted by our faculty. We are involved in nationally funded research in many areas, including behavioral science, medical education, occupational/environmental medicine, practice-based research, and community-based research. In addition, several DFM faculty are actively involved in studies of cancer epidemiology and behavioral oncology within the Population Studies and Prevention Program at the Karmanos Cancer Institute. Dr. Kendra Schwartz is the Associate Chair for research in the DFMPHS and she is advised on all research matters by the DFM Research Advisory Committee.
