Applying to our Residency Program

Application to the Family Medicine Residency will be accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).  This permits electronic filing of applications through all US medical schools or the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. The ERAS web site will answer frequently asked questions at: www.aamc.org/eras.  The residency program encourages all applicants to register through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP).  The NRMP may be contacted at nrmp@aamc.org,

The residency criteria includes an average USMLE score of 80 or above with no more than two attempts, a minimum of six months of U.S. clinical experience, graduation within the last five years, and three letters of recommendation.  Each application must also include standard information, dean’s letter, medical school transcript, board scores (NOBME, USMLE, etc.), and ECFMG certification if appropriate.  Deadline for receiving the application is December 31. All applications are reviewed  by the Resident Recruitment Committee.  Applicants who meet and exceed our criteria may be considered for an interview by the Resident Recruitment Committee. Interviews are scheduled in October, November, December, and January.  For a sample of a resident contract, please see the WSU GME website at http://www.gme.med.wayne.edu/current/wsu_gme_sample_resident_contract_09-10.pdf.
