Division of Medical Education
With the leadership of Richard Gallagher, PhD, the Division of Medical Education (DME) brings professional expertise in teaching and learning to developing, implementing and evaluating state-of-the-art medical curricula and training programs in collaboration with DFMPHS and other School of Medicine faculty. Drs. Jira Coumarbatch and Juliann Binienda oversee the department's medical student programs. Coordination support is provided by Lisa Blackwell. An active program of faculty development is maintained under the direction of Dr. Linda Roth. Consultation on the development of evaluation procedures to assess student and program outcomes is available to faculty through the expertise of Dr. Patrick Bridge.
The DME maintains an active program of research in medical education, contributing to the national literature in this area, providing leadership in national medical education organizations, and supporting the department's innovative educational projects with competitively-awarded external grants.
DME members continue to provide curricular development, implementation, and program evaluation support to the Office of the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs through the work of Dr. Patrick Bridge. Dr. Roth provides faculty development expertise to the School of Medicine through the office of the Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs.
