Departmental Role
I use the knowledge I have gained from my 38 years of experience in occupational & environmental health to promote a healthy and safe working and everyday living environment. I have an active role in teaching the various occupational and environmental health courses and seminars offered by the Division of Occupational and Environmental Health. I am also active in local, national and international research conducted by the division. I build research collaborations with local community non-profit organizations and with academic institutes at the international level, in particular among Middle East countries. I also work as a project coordinator to the MINH study entitles “Mental health in Iraqi refugees: Importance of post-displacement social stressors, 2010-2014.
Research Interests
Primary Research Interests fall in two areas, Iraqi refugees and immigrant health disorders and the impact of water-pipe (hookah) smoking on the health of smokers at the level of local, national and international.
