Departmental Role

I am an assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences and I also serve as the Graduate Student Officer for the MPH Program. As a medical anthropologist and an advanced practice nurse, my research emphasis is in the area of chronic disease prevention and health promotion. My research focuses on diabetes prevention and obesity risk reduction in ethnically diverse communities. I am also engaged in primary care practice-based research and clinical research improvement in settings serving diverse populations. I teach a core required course in the MPH curriculum, FPH 7320 Social Basis of Health.
