PROMOTION AND TENURE PROGRAM

Annual Schedule

 

June/July

  • Faculty member concludes preparation of P&T dossier by updating CV and teaching portfolio

 August/September

  • Department requests external letters of evaluation

  • Departmental P&T Committee meets

  • Letters from P&T Chair and Department Chair complete the dossier

  • Dossiers are submitted to the School of Medicine Faculty Affairs Office

October

  • Faculty Affairs Office creates master file and globally reviews dossier

  • Chairperson of School’s P&T Committee requests external letters of evaluation

  • Letters are mailed to external reviewers

  • Faculty Affairs personnel review content of dossier in detail, including rank, track, previous promotions, dates, etc.

November

  • External letters of evaluation are added to P&T dossier

  • Original file is copied and distributed to School’s P&T Committee in late November

December

  • School’s P&T Committee begins deliberations

  • Denial notices are sent to faculty

January

  • Appeals meeting is held

  • Files are sent to the Provost at the end of January

  • Dean sends letters to faculty to notify them that files have been sent to Provost

February/March/April

  • Provost and the University P&T Committee begin deliberations

  • Any major NEW information for dossier should be sent to the School’s Faculty Affairs Office

  • Departments conclude merit review and determine who should be recommended for promotion or tenure in the next annual program

May

  • Results of annual P&T program are announced

  • Effective date of promotion and/or tenure is August
